Avolon Outdoors provided Cabra Castle with an All-Weather Retractable Pergola Roof, with built in LED lighting and electric outdoor heaters.

Having completed our first project for Cabra Castle in 2011, the client had the confidence to approach us again in 2015. This time, wanting to utilise the outdoor area which is attached to the Honeymoon Suite of the hotel.

The Honeymoon Suite outdoor area was going to consist of a hot-tub, bar and alfresco dinning area, as well as a fire-pit and gathering area. Wanting to add cover to these features, Avolon Outdoors was contacted.

The area being covered was on the second floor of the castle, so it was fairly open to the elements. It was also in the eye-line of our previous install in Cabra back in 2011, so it was imperative that both projects complimented each other.

With all this in mind, we went for the Gibus Med All-Weather Retractable Roof System. The Gibus Med is an extremely robust unit that can withstand high winds and rain, but as its Italian made, has the elegance of design you would expect.

The total size of the area was 14 metres wide x 5 metres projection. We also installed integrated guttering into the unit. To complete the project we added built in LED lighting, along with electric wall heaters. All contributing to the lovely ambience you are met with upon entering the outdoor area of the honeymoon sweet at Cabra Castle, Kingscourt, County Cavan.

To the clients delight, Avolon Outdoors designed, manufactured and installed on budget and within the six week deadline.

The Castle owner, Howard Corscadden, had this to say about his second experience with Avolon Outdoors

“Once we knew what we wanted to achieve from our Outdoors area of the Honeymoon Suite, we sat down with both our designer and Martin from Avolon Outdoors. Audrey, our designer, has been involved with us for a long period now and we had worked with Martin in 2011 on another project at the Castle, so I had total faith we would achieve what we were hoping.

As it turned out we achieved exactly this and more, the area looks fantastic and was completed with minimum fuss. Guests are constantly complimenting it and I believe it is a real feature of the castle”.
